E-file mandate

Per the Illinois Department of Revenue (DOR), if the federal return is e-filed, the Illinois return must be e-filed. There is no opt-out form.

Payment methods

The Illinois DOR accepts direct debit (EFW), electronic funds transfer (EFT) and online epayment for balance due returns. Balances greater than $20,000 must be paid using EFT or EFW. Extension payments and estimate payments can be e-filed.

Direct deposit of refunds is supported.
